Art Director

Sean Turner

Sean is an art director and designer for opera, theatre and film nationally and internationally. He trained at Motley in 2006, three years after studying illustration at Kent Institute of Art and Design. Sean is the associate designer for the award-winning immersive theatre company LAStheatre; creators of the multidisciplinary science/art series THE ENLIGHTENMENT CAFÉ.  He has developed and designed work for Punchdrunk Enrichment for the past six years, including THE HOUSE WHERE WINTER LIVES, originally staged at the Discover Centre in Stratford, East London which transferred to the Perth International Arts Festival in 2014.  

As a freelance designer Sean has created work in all manner of theatres and site specific locations around the country for companies including; Old Vic New Voices, Opera Holland Park, Leeds City Varieties, The New Wolsey Ipswich, The Point Theatre, The Young Vic, Look Left Look Right, Blackheath Halls Opera, The Arts Theatre Leicester Square, The Castle Theatre Wellingborough, The Ventnor Exchange and many fringe venues around London.  Sean has just designed a series of projected images for narrated fairy tales with the English National Opera, to be developed further in 2017 and hopefully adapted for TV.

In 2017 Sean has a short film in development with For George Films, working title- ONCE A DANCER. Also Sean is designing the opera THE BARBER OF SEVILLE for the Ilford arts Festival. For Punchdrunk Enrichment there are plans in motion to stage the HOUSE WHERE WINTER LIVES at the Lincoln Centre, New York.  For LAStheatre he is designing and producing a family Christmas show titled HO HO HO in association with Bath Spa University and Circomedia.  Following on from an installation designed in 2016 for the for The Children’s Chinese Book Expo in Beijing, LAS theatre are designing a touring version in Beijing and also developing the concept of Story Storage- a company that stores and realises the worlds of written stories.
